Moondrop Spins Off 'May' as a TWS-First Sub-Brand

· audio

Chengdu IEM maker Moondrop is splitting its wireless efforts into a new sub-brand, May, with a dedicated product team and pricing under CNY 500. The first product, the Maybuds 1, will ship globally in late June 2026.

Why a separate brand

Moondrop’s core line has always been tuned around wired IEMs and a global enthusiast audience. Wireless earbuds pulled the team in a different direction — firmware, app support, ANC tuning — and Moondrop’s release cadence suffered. The spinoff gives the TWS effort room to ship every six months without crowding the Blessing and Variations roadmap.

What stays the same

The new sub-brand inherits Moondrop’s target curve philosophy and the same in-house tuning team. Maybuds 1 ships with a 10 mm beryllium-coated dynamic driver and the Moondrop Link app for EQ and OTA updates.

Pricing for the Maybuds 1 is set at CNY 399, roughly $55 at launch. Distribution will be direct plus Amazon and Linsoul.
