Keychron Launches the Q HE with Magnetic Hall Effect Switches
· peripherals
Keychron has launched the Q HE, a 75% mechanical keyboard with magnetic Hall Effect switches that allow per-key actuation depth to be adjusted in software from 0.1mm to 4.0mm. The Q HE is the first keyboard in Keychron’s Q series to ship with the new switches, and the company is positioning it as a serious alternative to the Wooting 80HE and Razer Huntsman V3 Pro.
Why it matters
Hall Effect switches have been the most significant mechanical keyboard innovation since the introduction of hot-swappable sockets in 2019. They allow analog input, meaning a single key can register multiple presses based on how far it is depressed, which is a genuine advantage in competitive games. Keychron is the first major Chinese keyboard brand to ship a Hall Effect board in volume, and the Q HE is priced at $199, undercutting the Wooting 80HE by $40.
What is new
- Magnetic Hall Effect switches with adjustable actuation from 0.1mm to 4.0mm, configurable per-key in software.
- 75% layout with a rotary encoder and a small OLED display.
- QMK/VIA support alongside the proprietary Keychron Launcher software, a first for a Hall Effect board.
- Aluminum CNC case in the same finish options as the Q1 and Q2.
The Q HE is available now through Keychron’s online store and Amazon, with shipping starting in late June 2026. A tenkeyless version, the Q HE TKL, is planned for Q4 2026.
