Gree Crosses 10 Million Residential Air Conditioners Exported to Southeast Asia
· home-appliances
Gree has crossed 10 million residential air conditioners exported to Southeast Asia in cumulative shipments, according to the company’s 2025 annual report. The milestone is anchored by strong sales in Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam, where Gree holds the top spot in residential AC by retail volume. The company is the largest residential AC maker in the region by units, ahead of Daikin, Panasonic, and Midea in most markets.
Why it matters
Southeast Asia is one of the most important growth markets for residential air conditioning, with the installed base expected to nearly double between 2024 and 2030 as the middle class in Indonesia, Vietnam, and the Philippines expands. Gree entered the region in the early 2000s through joint ventures and now manufactures locally in Thailand and Indonesia, which lets it sidestep the import duties that have hit Korean and Japanese competitors.
What is new
- Cumulative residential AC exports to Southeast Asia pass 10 million units in the 2025 results.
- Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam are the top three markets by units.
- Gree holds the #1 residential AC position in Indonesia and Thailand by retail volume.
- The G-Tech Inverter X, launched in 2025, is the first Gree residential AC with AI-driven load prediction, which the company says reduces energy use by 30 percent compared to the previous flagship.
The export milestone underscores Gree’s pivot from being a China-centric residential AC maker to a regional HVAC player that competes head-to-head with Daikin, Panasonic, and Midea across Southeast Asia.
