OnePlus is a Chinese brand. Pete Lau and Carl Pei established the company in Shenzhen in December 2013, and its registered company and headquarters remain in Shenzhen, China. A brand's country of origin is separate from the country where a particular phone may be assembled.

OnePlus is closely integrated with Oppo. In a 2021 company update, founder Pete Lau said OnePlus had integrated with Oppo and that he oversaw product strategy for both companies. OnePlus continues to use its own name, product lines, and community.
