SmallRig Teams Up With vivo on a Pro Video Rig Kit for the X300 Ultra
· outdoor-gear
SmallRig announced a Pro Video Rig Kit co-developed with vivo to coincide with the vivo X300 Ultra launch, with the partnership press release going out on 2026-03-31 via PA Media. The kit is the first time SmallRig has shipped a smartphone video rig built directly with a phone maker rather than as a third-party accessory.
A phone maker’s rig from a rig maker
The Pro Video Rig Kit is built around the vivo X300 Ultra’s video capabilities, with handles, mounts, and a cage that turn the phone into a small cinema-style rig. Until now, SmallRig’s smartphone cages have been third-party accessories that work across brands. The vivo partnership is a co-developed product, with both companies contributing to the design and the marketing.
The press release frames the kit as a tool for creators who want to shoot serious video on a phone rather than carry a dedicated cinema body. It is one of the more direct maker-to-maker accessory partnerships between a Chinese phone brand and a Chinese rig specialist.
Why it matters
SmallRig built its name on cages and rigs for Sony, Canon, and Panasonic cameras. The vivo partnership is a signal that the brand now treats flagship smartphones as a real video platform worth its own rig design, and that vivo sees SmallRig as the rig maker it wants to work with. For buyers, the practical effect is a more confident fit between phone and rig than third-party cages have offered so far.
