Realme GT 8 Pro Goes Global with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2

· smartphones

The Realme GT 8 Pro has launched in Europe, India, and Southeast Asia, four months after its China-only debut in January. It is Realme’s first phone to ship outside China with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2, and the company is leaning hard on the price-to-performance ratio that has defined the GT line since 2020.

Why it matters

Realme’s international business has been quietly rebuilding after a tough 2024, when the brand lost ground in India to OnePlus and iQOO. The GT 8 Pro is the most ambitious international launch in the brand’s history: a 999-euro flagship that competes head-on with the Galaxy S26 and the OnePlus 13, but at roughly 200-300 euros less.

What is new

  • 6.82-inch LTPO AMOLED with peak brightness of 4,500 nits, the brightest display ever on a Realme phone.
  • Periscope telephoto with a 200-megapixel sensor, a first for the GT line.
  • Realme UI 7.0 based on Android 16, with the new Realme AI assistant now running on-device for core tasks.
  • 120W wired charging, with a 50W wireless option that was missing from the GT 7 Pro.

Realme said the GT 8 Pro will get five years of OS updates and seven years of security patches, matching Samsung’s recently extended commitment. The phone is available through Realme’s online store and Amazon in launch markets.
