NIU and Ninebot Launch New Long-Range Electric Scooters for 2026
· automotive
The micro-mobility market has been quietly consolidating around two Chinese brands: NIU and Ninebot (Segway). Both have launched new long-range electric scooters in 2026, with 100+ km range, smart features like GPS tracking and anti-theft, and aggressive pricing for the European and Southeast Asian markets.
Why it matters
Electric kick scooters have been one of the most disrupted transportation categories of the past decade, with the European market alone worth roughly $2 billion annually. NIU and Ninebot have captured most of the premium end of this market, with the two brands together accounting for over 60% of electric scooter sales in Western Europe in 2025.
What is new
- NIU launched the KQi 300X, a 100-km range electric kick scooter with a 1,000W motor, GPS tracking, and a 2.4-inch color display at $1,299.
- Ninebot released the Segway Ninebot F2 Pro, a 110-km range scooter with a 1,200W motor, Apple Find My integration, and a foldable design at $1,199.
The collective effect is that the premium electric kick scooter category now has two strong Chinese brands competing on range, smart features, and price. For urban commuters in European and Asian cities, the value proposition is now strong enough that the “Chinese brand” stigma has largely disappeared in this category.
